It was my belief for a long time that the “baby boomer” generation continued to be the largest up to and including the millennial generation, but according to an excerpt from this article published to the Wikipedia website, it seems I was mistaken. The excerpt follows:
Millennials, also known as Generation Y (or simply Gen Y), are the demographic cohort following Generation X and preceding Generation Z. Researchers and popular media use the early 1980s as starting birth years and the mid-1990’s to early 2000’s as ending birth years, with 1981 to 1996 a widely accepted defining range for the generation.
Millennials are sometimes referred to as “echo boomers” due to a major surge in birth rates in the 1980’s and 1990’s, and because millennials are often the children of the baby boomers. This generation is generally marked by their coming of age in the Information Age, and they are comfortable in their usage of digital technology and social media. Millennials are often the parents of Generation Alpha.
Whatever the goal or destination there will be times when obstacles and distractions cross your path, but learning how to take stumbling blocks and build stepping stones out of them is the lesson which must be learned if we are to maintain the focus needed to accomplish that goal or reach that destination. Just keep your feet moving!
Enthusiasm is one of those feelings that bridges that mystical gap of generations and permeates the human consciousness so that, whether you’re aiming for the moon or raising your hand in a third grade class, enthusiasm fuels the objectives of each of us, big and small, young and old. What are you enthusiastic about?
